JGS1 Synthetic Fused Silica Optical slide
JGS1 is a high-purity synthetic fused silica (quartz glass) manufactured by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) from high-purity silicon tetrachloride. With a hydroxyl (OH⁻) content of 1000–2000 ppm and total metallic impurities below 0.2 ppm, it delivers exceptional transmission from 185 nm to 2500 nm, making it the premier choice for deep-UV applications including excimer laser systems (193 nm, 248 nm), deep-UV lithography, and UV spectrophotometry. Its synthetic origin ensures virtually zero bubbles, striae, or inclusions, with outstanding homogeneity and thermal stability. The high OH content that benefits deep-UV transmission does introduce a moderate absorption band near 2.73 μm, so JGS1 is not recommended for mid-IR use
