Twenty-four square well deep plates need a seal that handles each well individually. This mat has 24 molded silicone plugs arranged in a 4x6 grid — press it onto your plate and every well is capped independently. No cross-contamination risk between wells A1 and B1 during storage or when you're carrying a stack of plates to the -80. Ten mats per pack.
The silicone is chemically resistant enough for DMSO, acetonitrile, and methanol — common solvents in compound storage and sample preparation. If you're storing samples in 24-well plates with organic solvent in the wells, adhesive films will eventually lift or dissolve. These mats won't. They're reusable — rinse, autoclave, and put them back in service. Non-sterile out of the pack; autoclave for sterile applications.
Seating and Removal
Align the mat over your 24-well plate so each plug lines up with a well. Press down from the center outward — start at the middle two rows and work toward the edges. You'll feel each plug seat. Don't press one corner all the way down and then the others — the mat will stretch unevenly and the last corner won't align.
To remove: peel from one corner, lifting slowly. If the mat resists, don't pull harder — rock it gently side to side while lifting. Silicone grips tightly, especially after extended cold storage where the mat contracts slightly. If you're removing a mat from a -80 plate, let the plate warm to about 4 degrees C first — frozen silicone is stiffer and more likely to tear if you force it.
Cleaning
Post-use: rinse in deionized water to remove salts and buffer residue. For organic solvent exposure, rinse with 70 percent ethanol and air dry. Autoclave at 121 degrees C for sterility. Store flat — don't fold or crease the mats. If you store them stacked with heavy items on top, the plugs will compress and lose their grip over time.

FAQ
Will DMSO swell the silicone?
No — not at the concentrations and exposure times typical for sample storage (hours to days at room temp or 4 degrees C). Pure DMSO over weeks at 37 degrees C may cause slight swelling. For long-term DMSO compound library storage, test one mat first.
Can I centrifuge the plate with the mat on?
Not recommended. The centrifugal force will push the plugs out or cause the mat to lift at the edges. Remove the mat before spinning.
How many autoclave cycles before replacement?
Typically 30-50 cycles before the plugs lose their spring. Replace when plugs don't grip snugly or when you see surface cracking on the silicone.
