MUHWA Positively Charged Adhesion Microscope Slides — 45° Bevelled Corner, 50/Pack
Standard glass slides have a problem: tissue sections and cells don't like to stick to them. During the deparaffinization and antigen retrieval steps of IHC, during the stringency washes of in situ hybridization, during any protocol that involves heated buffer baths — ordinary slides shed their sections. You come back from a 30-minute wash step and half your tissue is floating in the buffer.
These slides are coated with a permanent positive charge — a silane-based treatment that gives the glass surface a net positive zeta potential. Cells and tissue sections carry a net negative charge from their membrane proteins and nucleic acids. The electrostatic attraction keeps them on the slide through the aggressive washing steps that strip tissue off untreated glass. No need to coat with poly-L-lysine or APES before use — the charge is already baked in.
Protocols that demand charged slides
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) sections. In situ hybridization (ISH) with multiple high-temperature stringency washes. Immunofluorescence on frozen sections where you're probing with three primary antibodies and washing six times. Any laser-capture microdissection workflow — if the section moves during cutting, you've lost your target. Bone and cartilage sections, which are physically dense and prone to detaching under thermal stress.
The 45° bevelled corner
One corner is cut at 45 degrees instead of the usual 90 degrees. This is a handedness marker: when the bevel is in the upper right, you're looking at the front of the slide, and the tissue is on the top surface. Sounds trivial until you've loaded six slides onto the staining rack, gotten distracted by a conversation, and can't remember which side has the sections. The bevel eliminates that ambiguity instantly. It also tells the coverslipper which side to apply the coverslip to — bevel up, coverslip on top.

Storage and shelf life
Keep the slides in their original box, closed, at room temperature. The charged surface is stable for at least 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored properly. Humidity degrades the charge — don't store the box in a cold room or next to a sink. If you open a box and don't use all 50 slides, close the box and tape it shut — a month of exposure to lab air is enough to reduce the charge density by measurable amounts. A simple test: put a drop of water on a fresh slide vs. an old one — the water drop should spread more aggressively on the fresh charged surface.
