MUHWA 96-Position Tip Box — Empty, Autoclavable, for 200uL Tips
An empty 96-position box for 200uL pipette tips. If you buy tips in bulk (bagged, not pre-racked), these are the boxes you load them into. Fill one box with tips from a bulk bag, close the lid, autoclave, and you've got a sterile rack of 96 tips ready for your pipette. When the tips run out, refill and autoclave again. One box lasts through dozens of refill cycles.
Polypropylene — handles the autoclave without warping. The 96 holes are arranged in the standard 8x12 grid so your 8-channel and 12-channel multichannel pipettes load cleanly. Row spacing is standard. The lid latches securely but isn't air-tight — that's intentional. During autoclaving, if the lid were sealed, the pressure differential would crack the box. Leave the latch slightly loosened or use a strip of autoclave tape across the seam.
Refilling — the workflow that saves money
Buying pre-racked tips costs about 2-3x more per tip than bulk bag tips. The trade-off is you spend 2-3 minutes refilling each box. For a lab that goes through five boxes a day, that's 10-15 minutes of refilling vs paying the pre-racked premium. Most labs that run high-throughput work (PCR setup, ELISA plate loading) find the refill time worth the savings.
To refill: pour bulk tips onto a clean bench surface or into a shallow tray. Pick up tips individually with forceps (slow but precise) or use a tip refill tool that loads an entire row at once. Drop each tip into a hole, narrow end down. The tip should seat with the flange resting on the hole rim — not jammed in. If a tip sits crooked, the pipette won't seal when it picks up the tip. After filling all 96, close the lid. If you're autoclaving, loosen the latch. If you're using as-is (non-sterile work), you're done.

FAQ
Can I autoclave with tips already loaded?
Yes. Load the tips, close the lid but don't latch it tight — leave it slightly loose or tape across the seam. The tips will survive the autoclave fine. Let the box cool completely before tightening the latch, or the cooling air inside will create a vacuum and the lid will be hard to open.
How many refill cycles before I replace the box?
Polypropylene holds up for 50-plus autoclave cycles before you notice any warping. Replace when the lid doesn't close flat, the hinge gets loose, or tip holes start to oval out and tips don't seat firmly.
Do 10uL tips fit in this box?
No — the holes are sized for 200uL tips. 10uL tips have a smaller flange diameter and will fall through. Use a 10uL-specific tip box.
